Follow Your Ghost
to Something Better

There's a voice inside you that knows what you needβ€”but it's hard to hear when everything else is so loud. I'm Mike, a Certified Peer Support Specialist, which is a fancy way of saying I help people find that voice again using lived experience, not just clinical observation. If you're feeling lost, stuck, or just looking for someone who’ll actually sit with you and listen, you’re in the right place.

What is Peer Support?

Recognition goes a long way. I dig therapy and psychiatry, don’t get me wrong. I’ve certainly been talked out of a hole by a therapist. You know what’s also nice? Someone climbing down into the hole with you because they know how lonely it gets down there and what the dirt feels like. Peer support is aces because we’re on the same level and working togetherβ€”personal exploration built on empathy and having walked the road once before, helping you get to the destination you choose.

Who the hell am I, anyways?

My brain has always been pretty buggered. So many of my early memories and reflections involve feeling out of step, outcasted, or under a dark cloud. At the core, I’m a punkish creative and introspective nerd, which is probably why I get along with misfits so well. But part of what makes that core so solid is what it’s been mended from. Knee deep in β€œThe Suck,” you could say; depression, suicidal ideation, anorexia, hardcore self-hate, just to name a few. Hell, I even learnedβ€”waaay later than mostβ€”that I'm Autistic/ADHD (AuDHDers rise!). Life's thrown me its share of UGH and I’ve spent a lot of time learning to stop hating my brain.Still kind of a love/hate relationship, actually. But progress is progress.Anyway, I had to give those personal hells a point, right? That’s how I ended up as a Certified Peer Support Specialist. One simple wish I have always had was never wanting anyone else to feel as alone as I was. That’s why I’m here. All that time in β€œThe Suck” taught me how to recognize what you're going throughβ€”and see you, sit with you, and help you figure out what you want to do about it.The best part? You won't have to perform or prove anything. I already get it.In our sessions, you'll get space to move in a direction without losing yourself. I don't do one-size-fits-all advice or empty platitudes. Let’s sift through your broken pieces together and see what you can make from themβ€”instead of sweeping them away.I'm in your corner. Because, damn, somebody has to be.

  • Navigated depression, suicidal ideation, and eating disorder recoveryβ€”I know what it's like to feel stuck and find a way forward

  • Certified peer support specialist committed to evidence-based practices and continuous education

  • Late-diagnosed autistic/ADHDβ€”I get the befuddling, non-linear journey of understanding your brain differently

  • I blend creative tools with deep reflection to help you discover what healing looks like for YOU (not what it "should" look like)

Testimonials

Mike is very, very insightful. Excellent listener and overall good guy.

I wish I had booked a longer session. I think it is great to talk through this with someone that understands the feeling of being lost, and I am really grateful for this space. Thanks again!

Appreciated your insights and you sharing your experiences with me. Very relatable. Hope to cross paths again soon!

Something that I appreciate Mike does and does well is he listens first and without judgement. Whatever level of hell a person is in, he's able to share the space but not take up space that doesn't belong to him. A beautiful "Virgil" to most people's inner "Dante."

He listens and he understands where you are coming from!

"What Does It Even Mean To "Follow Your Ghost?"

Beyond it sounding spooky yet existential? There’s an infinite level of crap driving us out of sync with who we areβ€”systemic expectations, daily demands, the suffocating β€œshoulds” of other people, etcβ€”but who and what we are is our greatest friggin’ resource. Your capacity for evolution, your tenacity and desire to claw your way to something better, all that is already in you. The deepest, most pure voice you have, that reminds you that you have power. That’s our Ghost. The whisper inside that knows what you need, even when the world says otherwise. The problem is, we all get lost for one reason or another. Be they external or internal forces, our β€œghost” drowns in noise. We lose how to listen back to ourselves.Maybe it takes the ghost of another to help you find yours?I’ve been knee deep in the same level of suck, stumbling around in the dark, making all the mistakes, bashing my toe against an ottoman (am I taking this metaphor too far?)β€”meaningful support comes from someone who gets your experience. You know, someone who, even if the devilish details of their story differ, knows the feeling.Someone to prop you up, listen to your story, and be that ghost for youβ€”until you can be your own.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ Section

Peer support isn't therapy, it hits different. I'm a certified peer support specialist with lived experience. Think of it this way: therapy usually focuses on diagnoses and treatment plans. Whereas I come from a place of connection and shared experience. We'll build coping strategies together, navigate systems, and process what you're going through so you feel less alone. Many people work with both a therapist and a peer supporter. They complement each other pretty damn well, actually.

I'm a certified peer support specialist, which means I've completed formal training, credentialing, and am required to regularly complete continuing education. But honestly, my biggest qualification is lived experience. I've navigated anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, and the cruddy reality of trying to function when your brain feels like it's working against you. I've got the tools and I've got the talent... as Winston said in Ghostbusters.

I don't provide crisis support, but I can help connect you with resources that do. If you're in immediate danger, please call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or text "HELLO" to 741741 (Crisis Text Line). Further list of emergency numbers and resources can be found further down this page.

Life happens. The fact you're even looking at this is proof of that. You can cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before your session. Just got to give me a heads up and we'll find a time that works better. Anything within that 24-hour window is non-refundable, though, as that time was specifically held for you. I'm sorry! I'm very mean, I know.

Dude's, dudette's and everybody in-between... that's up to you. You're the director of this flick. Some people check in weekly, others every other week or once a month. We'll figure out what makes sense based on where you're at and what you want.

No! Kidding. Yes, of course you can. Start with 30 minutes and realize you need more time? No problem. Want to scale back? Also fine. Flexibility is kind of the whole point.

Honest answer? It depends. Some people feel relief just from having someone who understands. Others take a few sessions to build momentum. Peer support isn't a quick fix, it's about building tools, shifting perspective, and feeling less alone in the process. Progress looks different for everyone, and that's okay.

Nope. You don't need a formal anything. If you're struggling with your mental health, feeling stuck, lost, heartbroken, or just need someone who gets it while you vent your steam, you can grab a metaphorical chair and metaphorically sit down.

Absolutely. What we discuss is protected and stays between us. The only exception is if you're in immediate danger of harming yourself or others. In that case, I'm required to connect you with emergency resources. Outside of that, everything we talk about is lip zipped.

Suuuuper simple. We meet over secure video call that can be opened in your browser. You just need a private space, internet connection, and a device with a camera (if you choose to be on camera, that is). No commute, no waiting room. I would say no pants but I'm seriously going to kind of need you to be wearing pants.

No, I don't accept insurance. Payment is out-of-pocket, but I keep pricing accessible with flexible session lengths and pay-as-you-go options. You're in complete control of what you spend.

Not at all. You can book single sessions as you go, or save with a package if you want consistently regular support with a discount. Either way works and you decide what feels right. One doesn't get special treatment over the other.

Mostly, we'll just talk. The first session is a lot of getting to know you and you getting to know me. This is where you totally get the floor to share what's on your mind in a very, very low-pressure space.

Then we're not a good fit, and that's perfectly fine! That's why you can start with a free intro call. If at any point you feel like this isn't your thing, no biggie. I can even help point you toward other resources or support options that might be a better match! I mean, I cannot confirm or deny whether I'll need a bowl of ice cream afterward but it's fine... it's fine. We're fine.
